That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie,
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
A Red, Red Rose

This Valentine’s Day (or what you will!) weekend has been totally amazing so far. It all began last night when my friends and I went out to dinner (so everybody doesn’t get confused, I’ll call them Converse and Berea) at a very snazzy restaurant. Since New Hall doesn’t serve dinner on the weekends, many people opt to eat out. All of St. Andrews must have caught the love-bug because every single, solitary place was reserved! Converse, Berea, and I finally found a little pub and ate a simple dinner of Panini and pizza. Following our night on the town Converse and I enjoyed a very deep conversation, after which I was able to chat with my family and friends back home. I was pretty much feeling the love at that point.
The real magic began this brilliant Sunday morning at church. I’m not particularly upset with or fascinated by Valentine’s Day. More perfect than the love of any “significant other” is the love I find though Christ. As wild and romantic as my heart can be, I truly am enjoying the special gifts of a single life. Every hymn we sang today made me almost giddy with joy and our pastor’s sermon about the assurance of salvation was so heartening. In any other setting I might not have been so captivated, but couple really solid preaching with a really thick Scottish accent and you have quite a formidable combination! Yet again, my new friends at church did not fail in showering me with warm acceptance in more ways than one. Little details often make the fondest memories. Four months with these brothers and sisters will be very pleasant indeed.
Tonight, I’m playing hostess to several people coming over to watch Little Women. (Someone asked if we were celebrating “Gal-entine’s Day” – I’ve never heard that one before!) I think getting together with friends on such a holiday is something I would have done at home; how comforting to fall into similar patterns. Off to read more of Robinson Crusoe which I will finish before everyone arrives! Cheers and a Happy Valentine’s Day to all.
Great to see you at church again! Thanks so much for the book for the kids. We read it at bedtime and they loved it. See you soon!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see you all as well! Glad to hear the kids liked the book, it's one of my favourites!
